Overview

Vigan, officially the City of Vigan, is a component city and capital of the province of Ilocos Sur, Philippines. According to the 2024 census, it has a population of 54,498 people.

Why it matters

Vigan is a UNESCO World Heritage Site (since 1999) — the best-preserved example of a planned Spanish colonial town in Asia, with cobblestone Calle Crisologo as its centerpiece.
